Rise in the number of undemocratic rulings in the country peaked yesterday when a court from Surat sentenced two-year imprisonment for Mr. Rahul Gandhi, a senior comedian from INC (India’s National Comedy). Mr. Gandhi is accused of labeling everyone from the ‘Modi’ community as thieves in one of his jokes. However, the judges of the Surat bench did not find it funny at all.

While declaring the decision of the court, a senior judge said,

We sentence two-year jail to Rahul Gandhi for speaking the truth instead of jokes that everyone was expecting from him. Being a leader, he cannot break the expectations of his followers like this. People of the BJP (Biggest Joke Party) were waiting for a punchline when Mr. Rahul threw a blunt fact on their faces. This is totally unacceptable.

The senior comic has requested the Supreme court to reconsider this decision citing the fact that comedy and sarcasm are extremely important for the flourishing democracy and he is a significant contributor to that.
