Indian cricket fans were celebrating their teams’ thumping win against the Kiwis in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Semi-Final on Wednesday, a script that fans believe has worked so far for the over-a-month extravaganza. Social media was flooded with ‘this is cinema’ posts, claiming that Team India’s World Cup campaign was no less than a fairytale and that the Secretary of BCCI has minced all the elements to perfection in what can be called a ‘cinematic masterpiece’.

Fans were getting jittery when Daryl Mitchell and skipper Kane Williamson were building on a solid partnership, hitting the Indian batters all over the Waknhade. However, according to the fans, this was part of the script where Spiderman takes a few blows from the goblin, eventually overcoming the villain with the help of her girlfriend, MJ.

India is set to face Australia in the final on November 19, in what will be a grandiose felicitation ceremony for the non-cricketing ‘king’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per reports, the PM will present the winner’s trophy as he himself is gearing up for a final next year.

Fans are keen to know what’s in store for them in the ‘Jay Shah cinematic universe’. Will Rohit Sharma’s men shed the choker’s tag and finish the story, or is there another climax (ICC World T20 2024) for the fans? The latter is most likely to give meme content for social media, but cardiac problems to those closely attached to Indian cricket.
